Sumikko Gurashi characters became one of the most popular and loved characters among Japanese children in the past few years.
Sumikko means “in the corner”, and Gurashi means “live”. These set of characters were originally targeting the Japanese who tend to feel comfortable being “in the corner” of somewhere, such as the corner seat of a cafe restaurant, trains, or even being at a corner of their own rooms.
Now there are a lot of merchandise depicting these characters such as stationary, plate ware, clothes, and other daily necessities. Our 7 year old girl would love to wear her Sumikko T-shirt to school to show it off to her friends.
Main characters:
Shirokuma (polar bear)
Penguin?
Neko (cat)
Tokage (lizard)
