A Weekend Trip to Hakone

With loads of museums, hot spring facilities and great nature worth to visit, Hakone is a very popular weekend / day trip destination for Tokyo residents.

Hakone is only 85 minutes away from Shinjuku station by Odakyu Limited Express “Romancecar”, and you will be able to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Ashinoko Lake with Mt. Fuji in the background.

Let’s take a look at some good places to visit:

Tenseien

Tenseien is a Ryokan but can also be a destination for a “one-day hot spring experience”. Guests can enjoy the whole hot spring facility, relaxation area, massages, and restaurants in yukatas (casual version of kimonos).

Odawara Castle

Address: 6-1 Jonai, Odawara-shi, Kanagawa

*10 mins walk from Odawara Station

Hours: 9am – 5pm

Admission: Adults – JPY 500 / Elementary and Junior High School Students – JPY 200

Closed: Second Wednesday in December, December 31 and January 1

 

Wanpaku Land

Wanpaku Land is a perfect place for families with children to stop over. Children can have fun with athletic facilities, giant slides, pony rides, and play pools in the summer. This is a magnificent amusement park located right in the middle of beautiful nature.

Hours: 9am to 4:30pm

Closed: Every Monday (ex. National Holidays), weekday after National Holidays, New Years Holidays

Admission: Free

Parking Fee: JPY 510 / day
